Overview
Core model: Waveforms, Standard Sirens & Future Detectors
A gravitational-wave waveform is a time series whose phase, frequency, amplitude, and polarization encode the dynamics of its source. Compact-binary signals can also act as standard sirens because general relativity predicts an intrinsic amplitude scale that allows luminosity distance to be inferred directly from the wave signal.
