Numbers 0–5: Numbers Tell How Many
Connect the numerals 0 through 5 to actual quantities.
Numbers describe quantity
When you see three apples and count 1, 2, 3, the numeral 3 records how many apples there are. The objects can move around and the quantity stays three.
Zero is a real number
An empty group has a quantity too: zero. Zero lets us describe when none of something is present.
